Product Questions

Are your batteries old or refurbished? What is the meaning of "Third Party"?

Most of our batteries are brand new third party products. Brand new means new case and new cells. Third party means they are not original batteries, but we fully guarantee our batteries meet or exceed OEM specifications, since our batteries also use Grade A cells and some items have more capacity than original ones.

How to care and use battery?

Your new battery comes in a discharged condition and must be charged before use. Upon initial use (or after prolonged storage period) the battery may require two to three charge/discharge cycles before achieving maximum capacity.
If the battery is not going to be used for more than a month, it is recommended that it be removed from the device and stored in a cool, dry, clean place.
It is normal for a battery to become warm during charging and discharging.
A charged battery will eventually lose its charge if unused. It may therefore be necessary to recharge the battery after a storage period.

What should I pay attention to?

Do not short-circuit a battery. A short-circuit may cause damage to the battery.
Do not drop, hit or otherwise abuse the battery as this may result in the exposure of the cell contents, which are corrosive.
Do not expose the battery to moisture or rain.
Keep battery away from fire or other sources of extreme heat. Do not incinerate. Exposure of batteries to extreme heat may result in an explosion.

What is the "Memory Effect"?

Ni-Cad batteries suffer from what's called the "memory effect" This means that if a battery is continually only partially discharged before re-charging, the battery "forgets" that is has the capacity to further discharge all the way down. To illustrate: If you, on a regular basis, fully charge your battery and then use only 50% of its capacity before the next recharge, eventually the battery will become unaware of it's extra 50% capacity which has remained unused. Your battery will remain functional, but only at 50% of its original capacity. The way to avoid the dreaded "memory effect" is to fully cycle (fully charge and then fully discharge) your battery at least once every month. Batteries can be discharged by unplugging the device's AC adapter and letting the device run on the battery until it ceases to function. This will ensure your battery remains healthy. Ni-Mh and Li-Ion batteries do not suffer the memory effect.

What is a battery cycle?

Cycle life is measured by the amount of times a battery may be charged and discharged. Every time a battery is charged and discharged, it uses one cycle. Cycle life is very important in battery applications such as laptop batteries and emergency light batteries. A NiCad battery has a cycle life of 500-1000 or more cycles.

How long will the new main battery power the laptop?

Battery run-time on a laptop is difficult to determine. Actual battery running time depends upon the power demands made by the equipment. The use of the screen, the hard drive, and other accessories results in an additional drain upon the battery, effectively reducing its running time. The total run-time of the battery is also dependent upon the design of the equipment. Generally, a new Hi-Capacity battery will run 30% to 50% longer than the old battery did when is was new.

How can I maximize battery performance?

Breaking In New Batteries New batteries come in a discharged condition and must be fully charged before use. It is recommended that you fully charge and discharge your new battery two to four times to allow it to reach its maximum rated capacity.

What are the differences between Primary Battery and Rechargeable Battery?

A primary battery is not intended to be recharged and is discarded when the battery has delivered all of its electrical energy.
A primary battery is not intended to be recharged and is discarded when the battery has delivered all of its electrical energy.

What causes short lifetime of battery?

  1. Charger or electro circuit can't be fit for the battery.
  2. Overcharge and over-discharge, etc.
  3. Battery can't comply with the charging requirement

The lifetime of a battery can be prolonged by:

  1. Using the original charger
  2. Charging the battery after it automatically powers off, then full charge the battery
  3. Avoiding erroneous usage of battery, such as heavy pressure, short circuit, fall off and so on

Why can't the battery be charged?

  1. The battery has no voltage.
  2. The charger has no output electric current.
  3. Low charging efficiency due to external cause

Solutions to the problem:

  1. Test whether the charger has voltage and output electric current or not.
  2. Check if the charger is well contacted with battery.
  3. Activate the battery with voltage and current 1.5 times higher than those of the battery. (Use this method only when the battery can't be charged.)

What are the reasons that cause battery with no voltage or low voltage?

  1. No voltage.
  2. External shot circuit or overcharge, anti-charge
  3. Cells expansion and short circuit caused by direct anode contact and continuous high efficiency electric current overcharging.

It can be avoided by:

  1. Checking if the battery is without voltage or electric current
  2. Avoiding short circuit
  3. Avoiding collision and pressure among batteries
  4. Charging the battery after it automatically powers off, then full charge the battery.

Battery Maintenance and User Instructions

  1. A new battery usually maintains a discharged condition with very low capacity. It is highly recommended to fully charge new battery packs before using. You can refer to the users' guide of your electronic device for charging instructions.
  2. A new battery pack needs to be circled (fully discharged and recharged) three to five times to reach its optimum performance.
  3. Rechargeable battery will undergo self-discharging when left unused for a long period of time. Thus, it should always be stored in a fully charged state and kept in a cool, dry and clean place.
  4. To maintain the optimum performance of a battery pack, it is highly recommended to circle (fully discharging and recharging) it at least once a month.
  5. It is normal if a new battery gets warm when being charged or used. However, please pay special attention if the battery pack becomes excessively hot. This may indicate there is a problem with the charging circuit of the electronic device. Please consult a qualified technician if necessary.
  6. New batteries are hard to be charged. Sometimes, your electronic device may indicate a fully charged condition about 10 to 15 minutes when the new battery pack is being charged for the first time. When this happens, remove the battery pack and let it cool down for about 10 to 15 minutes then repeat the charging procedure. Sometimes, a new battery will suddenly refuse to be charged. If this happens, a suggested solution is trying to remove the battery from the device and insert it again.

Precautions when using a battery

  • Do not modify or disassemble it.
  • Do not incinerate or expose battery to excessive heat, which may result in an exposure.
  • Do not expose battery to water or other moist/wet substances.
  • Avoid piercing, hitting, crushing or any abuse use of the battery.
  • Do not forget to take away your battery from the device if you will not use it for a long time.
  • Avoid short circuit of the terminals by keeping your battery pack away from metal objects such as necklaces or hairpins.
